Korean Film Festivals Announce Statement to Support Ukraine
This year's Jeonju International Film Festival has come to an end. During the event, the directors and organizers of ten Korean film festivals, including the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival, came together in Jeonju to call for a peaceful end to the war in Ukraine. CHO Sungwoo, chairman of the executive committee of the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival, voiced the same sentiment in condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The Jeonju International Film Festival named April 30 'Ukraine Day' and expressed its continued opposition to Russia's invasion of Ukraine by screening films by Ukrainian filmmakers. The ongoing Russian aggression on Ukraine can no longer be tolerated. Support Ukraine with us.
STOP THE WAR, CHOOSE PEACE
18th JIMFF Film Submission Now Closed, Korean Film Submissions Hit a Record High!
[The 17th JIMFF Korean Competition Award Ceremony]
The music film submission period for the 18th JIMFF, for both feature and short films, ended on April 30. JIMFF, Asia's only music film festival, allows you to witness all types of music films in one spot. This year, there were 1,525 submissions total, with 1,273 international films and 252 Korean films.
Particularly this year, Korean film submissions reached a new high, increasing by 77% compared to the pre-pandemic record in 2019. We were able to sense the Korean filmmakers' common enthusiasm for music filmmaking. While there have been numerous documentary submissions in the past, fiction films made up a larger percentage of this year's submissions.
A variety of films with novel viewpoints are said to be plentiful this year, so don't miss out on the opportunity to see them at the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival this August! 👍
