The artistic spirit and creativity grow more vigorously under oppression. Go Go 70s talks about a burning band set in a club that dominated night culture during the military regime in the 1970s. Joining together in the six-member band “Devils,” Sang-gyu and Man-sik go to Seoul with aspiring singer Mimi and enjoy an explosive growth in popularity. Their band is in danger of being disbanded due to continued repression of the regime and discord among the members. But the liberation of youth is not blocked by anything.

The film, which can be called the Korean version of Doors, cleverly utilizes the convention of Hollywood popular music films, and delicately portrays the dark sides of that time. The performance scene with a variety of angles and sounds is really spectacular. (SONG Kyeong-won)​
