The Hawfwen, a traditional gathering where the Zhuang people sing folk songs, is losing its popularity. It often takes place around the clan temples or under the old village trees, where singers are divided into male and female groups, who improvise their lyrics to sing in correspondence with one another. While attempting to trace the broken echo of the Hawfwen, the camera travels along with the antiphonal singing of Zhuang people across the mountains and cities and encounters a fascinating diversity of singers and gatherings.
