SYNOPSIS

Geumjeonggul in Goyang City, South Korea, was built for the purpose of mining gold during the Japanese colonial period and was closed. In October 1950, during the Korean War, in Geumjeonggul, the police massacred hundreds of residents of Goyang without any legal procedures and buried them deep in layers. And 71 years later, the bereaved families are still suffering and struggling with trauma. 

DIRECTOR

Chon Seung-il

Born in 1965. Studied Fine Art at Seoul National University and Theater and Film at Dongguk University. Worked as the Programmer for the Jeonju IFF Animation Biennale and he taught at the Dongguk Graduate School of Digital Image and Contents and Kaywon University of Art and Design. He has continuously made films since his first film Memory(1992) and is currently representing director at I Love Automata.
