Horas Tapscott, who represented avant-garde Jazz in Los Angeles, formed Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra (PAPA) in the 1960s to express the reality of African Americans at that time through avant-garde music. In 2005, composer and saxophonist Jesse Sharps gathered members of the PAPA and young performers to form a big band, The Gathering, continuing to seek a new way for LA's avant-garde jazz as well as carry on the tradition of Tapscott. The film shows the true nature of LA Free Jazz through their first recording process in 2008, performances, and interviews. (HWANG Deokho)
