The third opera by French composer Jean-Philippe Rameau in the 18th century, Gallant Indies is the masterpiece of opera ballet with beautiful music and ballet. The documentary, of the same name, features the process of recreating the masterpiece of the Baroque era into a contemporary artwork. The key is to replace ballet with street dances such as hip-hop, cramping, locking, popping, and flexing. Director BÉZIAT shoot the constant practices of choreographers, stage directors, and musical directors from various former French colonies, bringing new life to the classics, vividly captures the intense process of rehearsals and actual performances. Philippe BÉZIAT

Philippe Béziat directed the opera-documentaries Becoming Traviata (2012). For television, Philippe Béziat has directed several documentaries, including Claudio Monteverdi and Jacques Prévert. He also regularly films operas, ballets, concerts and theatre plays. In addition, he staged Pelléas et Mélisande by Claude Debussy and collaborates in the staging of musical like 200 Motels by Frank Zappa.
