Hye-sung grew up poor but has a talent for baseball. Eom-ji has been his friend since they were children. Hye-sung falls in love with Eom-ji but when she transfers to another school, they don’t see each other for years. Hye-sung and Eom-ji meet again but she is now the girlfriend of gifted hitter, Ma Dong-tak. Hye-sung competes with Dong-tak over Eom-ji, but injures his shoulder seriously and gives up baseball. Then Manager Sohn Byung-ho gathers up a motley group of dismissed baseball players and forms a team. Manager Sohn gives his team extreme training and Hye-sung returns to the baseball world.
Lee Jang-ho is one of the most significant directors of the 70s and 80s. He was an assistant to director Shin Sang-ok and was thrust into stardom with the smashing success of Heavenly Homecoming to Stars (1974), the film with which he made his directorial debut. He used experimental visual techniques in Declaration of Idiot (1983) and portrayed Korean society in Good Windy Day (1980). He also directed popular films such as Eoh Wu-dong (1985) and Lee Jang-ho’s Baseball Team (1986).
