Born 1961 in Blackbourne, England. Made his directorial debut with two documentaries about Ingmar Bergman. Directed numerous TV series and feature films and was widely acclaimed for < Welcome to Sarajevo>(1997) and < I Want You>(1998). < In This World>(2002) won him the Golden Bear at the 2003 Berlin Film Festival.
