Jong-hwan, while waiting to be assigned as a teacher, meets Su-kyung in a cafe where he was writing a poem. They marry soon after. He barely notices his wife''''s hardships, having to deal with his mother, siblings and children and living in a country village. His wife inevitably gets ill and he realizes too late how serious her condition is. He expresses his guilt and love for his wife in his poetry but soon she succumbs to her illness and dies.
Born in 1948, Park studied business management at Sungkyunkwan University. He began his film career with Shin Film as one of the film crew and moved onto direct such issue-oriented films as < Mother > (1985), < Pilar of Mist > (1986), and < A Woman of Today > (1989). With 1995''s < 301, 302 >, Park began directing films with his own unique, gaining notoriety in the process. His filmography includes < Farewell My Darling > (1996), < Push Push > (1997), < Family Cinema > (1998), and < Green Chair > (2004).
