Based on the popular comic book Sunset on Third Street, Always welcomes the audience to ordinary life in Tokyo of the late 1950s. In 1958-when Tokyo Tower is just about to be completed, a variety of characters on Third Street in Yuhi District live their daily lives. There’s a grocery shop, a variety store, a barber… The street is always filled with laughter and joy. The film miraculously rebuilds the world of the 50s using the latest stunning visual effect techniques.
born in Nagano, 1964. When he saw < Star Wars > and < Close Encounters of the Third Kind > at the age of thirteen, he decided to work in special effects. After graduating from Asagaya College of Art and Design, he developed highly-skilled visual techniques, working on films such as ITAMI Juzo’s < The Last Dance >(1993) and < A Quiet Life >(1995). In 2000, he made his directorial debut with < Juvenile >, which set a new standard of integration of full visual effects in entertainment won the Best Visual Effects at the domestic Nifty Film Awards. Also, it won the prize for Best Children''s Film at the Giffoni International Film Festival in Italy. His next film, < Returner >(2002), was a huge box office hit in Japan and was invited for the Open Cinema category at the 7th Pusan International Film Festival.
