Mozartballs features a cast of characters that range from an Austrian astronaut who carried a score of < The Magic Flute> into space, a retired Swiss school teacher obsessed by Mozart to an ex-pop musician in Oklahoma who believes that her body is actually inhabited by Mozart''''s spirit. Mozartballs is a light-hearted tribute to Mozart and explores what he symbolizes in our age.
In recent years, as a partner of Rhombus Media, Larry Weinstein has become Canada’s pre-eminent director of documentary films on musical subjects. His films have earned numerous Gemini Awards, Emmy Awards and Oscar nomination. Recently Weinstein has been honoured with a number of retrospectives of his work, including tributes at Hot Docs (Toronto), MOFFOM (Prague), and DocAviv (Tel Aviv). A graduate of York University, Weinstein, received the degree of Doctor of Letters (honoris causa) from the same university. His filmography includes < Solidarity Song: The Hanns Eisler Story >(1998), < Ravel''s Brain >(2000) and < Beethoven''s Hair >(2005).
