PROGRAM NOTE
James Blunt is one of the most wonderful recent discoveries in Britpop since the 2000¡¯s. James Blunt is a familiar name even in South Korea where his song ¡®You¡¯re Beautiful¡¯ was used in a commercial film, and his fame is no longer merely British or American but also international. Blunt, whose family has had a long history of military service, has also had unique career, graduating from a military academy and then serving as a British Army Captain in Kosovo for 2 years before becoming a singer. In 2006, Blunt, now an international pop star, revisited Kosovo where he was stationed 6 years ago and played a concert for the troops still there. Blunt¡¯s own video footage which he shot back during his service displays people that he met up with back there, traces of massacres and memories that inspired him, along with his famous songs such as You¡¯re Beautiful, Wiseman, High, Goodbye My Lover and so on. Even though the sound facilities in a camp are poor, the live concert, resonating with the singer¡¯s own memories, brings a much more genuine feeling to his songs and is really touching, more so than any other concert.
