Nelson is a 45 years old musician in Uruguay’s Air Force band, and has played the trumpet for more than 20 years. He feels discontented with his dead-end job. After his wife leaves him, Nelson falls into a depression, believing he has not achieved anything of significance in his life. A music contest in town presents Nelson with the possibility of an impending promotion but he would have to travel to Antarctica on the exact date of the contest’s finale. Nelson must choose between his military career and the pursuit of a life-long dream.
He studied Communication at the Universidad de la Republica, Uruguay. He worked as an assistant director to several filmmakers among others Federico Veiroj and Erick Zonka. Directed his first short film Conexiones in 2004. In 2006 co-wrote with Javier Palleiro the short film Buen Viaje, Official Selection at Cannes Film Festival. Solo is his first feature film as a director.
