After a triumphant career as long as their own lives, Katia and Marielle Labeque, the most exceptional pianists of our time, are still tackling the most exciting challenges. Their love for and commitment to Spanish culture led them to establish their artistic residence in Valladolid during the 2011/2012 season, a challenge to match the others that they impose on themselves. Their artistic residence in Valladolid offers an exceptional opportunity to visit the Labeques’ fascinating creative universe, their constant search for ways in which to develop as artists and women and increase their artistic and social commitment to Spain.
He has worked as a director and executive producer for the Spanish television since the early 90s. Before directing documentaries, he directed several short fi lm which won awards at important international fi lm festivals. In 2000 he directed fi rst documentary, Bunuel en Hollywood. Later he directed Almodovar siglo XX, a documentary about Pedro Almodovar’s work. In 2010 he directed La tierra de las mil orquestas, a documentary that looks at the Venezuela orchestra system.
