The turbulent life story of the most famous folk singer that the Netherlands has ever known: Andre Hazes. An artist who loved the blues and who lived like the blues. As an 8-year-old rascal with an abusive and alcoholic father, he has been discovered singing in the streets of Amsterdam in the 60’s. We relive the highlights of his career in the 80’s and go down with him in the aftermath of his career, when his famous voice and sound is seriously affected by his deteriorating hearing and his alcohol addiction.
Diederick Koopal was born in 1963 in Groningen. Koopal started his career in 1988 as a Junior Copywriter at KKBR. In 1999, he founded his own production company called Neboko, which focused primarily on commercials. In 2012, he directs his first feature film, namely 〈De Marathon〉. In October 2013, De Marathon wins three Golden Calfs (i.e. the Dutch equivalent of the Oscars). In 2014, Koopal develops and directs the feature film 〈Blood, Sweat & Tears〉, a Biopic regarding Dutch singer Andre Hazes.
