Turning takes the viewer into the world of Antony and the Johnsons as they tour their live concert/performance work, ‘Turning’. The last few years Antony has been working in close collaboration with video artist Charles Atlas. The preliminary result is the critically acclaimed concert ‘Turning’, which is a subtle journey into the feminine universe with Antony's music floating into your ears and Charles Atlas’s pictures in your eyes. 13 ‘beauties’ – transgendered women - spinning slowly in the mobile arena. Antony works, both in his performances and in his songs, in a way that examines and challenges traditional perception of identity.
Charles Atlas is a dance and video artist. He has been credited for countless works of art, both for theatres, museums and television. He is best known for his longstanding collaboration with the legendary choreographer Merce Cunningham. In the 90s Antony began playing in the gay punk band BlackLips. The last few years Antony has been working in close collaboration with video artist Charles Atlas. The result is the critically acclaimed concert Turning.
