Is this Gugak (Korean traditional music) or Flamenco? A flamenco guitarist, a flamenco dancer, a Korean traditional singer and a gypsy violinist have moved to Jeju Island for different reasons. They meet in a new neighborhood and start new music Gugak-flamenco crossover under the band name, “Soriquete.” Their new sound and life challenges delivers free and independent paradigm of life to us trapped in a monolithic system. Born in Seoul, 1978, and graduated from Hanyang University with a degree in Cultural Anthropology in 2006. He worked as a film and book translator from 2008 to 2010, and moved to Jeju Island in 2010. After working as a freelance radio producer, he is now a chief director of Maekaera Studio, a company which he founded in 2016.
