For 10 idyllic years, young Mi-ja has been caretaker and constant companion to Okja at her home in the mountains of Korea. But that changes when a multinational conglomerate Mirando Corporation takes Okja for themselves and transports her to New York, where image-obsessed CEO Lucy has big plans for Mi-ja’s dearest friend. With no particular plan, Mi-ja sets out on a rescue mission, all Mi-ja wants to do is bring her friend home.
Bong Joon-ho firmly established himself at the vanguard of Korean filmmakers with his 5 feature films, < Barking Dogs Never Bite >(2000),< Memories of Murder >(2003),< The Host >(2006) and < Mother >(2009), creating a global appetite for what would become 2013’s award-winning < Snowpiercer >. Bong demonstrates a propensity for bold and present a new kind of viewing experience where suspense, humor and humanity co-exist in singular films that cannot be defined by one particular genre.
