First launched in 2020, “CURATOR OF THE YEAR” invites a filmmaker who has played a major role within the history of Korean music cinema to serve as a curator, sharing his or her representative works and favorite music films. The long-term purpose of this section is to create a discourse on Korean music films.
This year's curator is music director CHO Sungwoo. He was the festival director of the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival from its second to sixth editions, and has returned to the festival this year. He has selected as his representative works: Barking Dogs Never Bite (2000) by BONG Joon-ho, One Fine Spring Day (2001) by HUR Jin-ho, The Duelist (2005) by LEE Myung-se.In addition, the list of films that has inspired him the most includes: The Last Concert (1977) by Luigi COZZI and Cinema Paradiso (1988) by Giuseppe TORNATORE.
