Although K-pop is sweeping the world, it’s not the whole Korean music scene. Many Korean music films this year remind us of the struggling lives of underground musicians who still dream of meeting the bigger audience. < Onesun >, the documentary on the rapper Onesun, who still works as a delivery man after becoming popular through an audition program and < LIVE HARD > that shows various hardships musicians face through an audition scene at a live club, are among them. Memory and nostalgia related to music is another theme that’s dealt with in more and more films. You might have a nice surprise to meet the old musicians from < Rock ‘n’ Roll Grandpa > and < Trip of Blues >. The screening & live music performance of < Résonances > and < Invisible Cities > will provide a unique experience you can meet only in JIMFF. Among the short programs are the ones that try to comfort the social victims (< BigHug >, < The First and Last Minute of My Life >, < A Spring Day >) and exploration on music and sound (< Dalsegno >, < Mime in Mine >).
